Best for First-time visitors - Expert review of Empire State Building
This 102-storey Art Deco icon is every bit as striking today as when it was completed in 1931. Although it has long since abdicated its place as the world’s tallest building (since 9/11 it is, sadly, once again New York City’s tallest structure), it is still the Big Apple’s original and quintessential skyscraper, thanks in part to classic flicks like King Kong. Towering above the concrete jungle of Midtown Manhattan, the observation deck on the 86th floor offers an unforgettable panorama of the entire city, but to avoid the thick of the crowd visit before 11:00am. You can buy your tickets in advance online and pick them up at the Empire State Building ticket window on the second floor.
Tickets are US$20 for adults and US$14 for children between 6-12.
