Expert review of The Cloisters
Medieval Europe comes to uppermost Manhattan.
Much less known than its sister museum the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Cloisters is nonetheless a gem as much for its peaceful atmosphere and pretty gardens as its sizeable and impressive medieval collection. I particularly love the famous tapestry series with its romantic unicorns and the incredible cloistered garden, which showcases plants and flowers thought to be used in Medieval remedies. And though it’s quite far uptown, the express subway, the A line, gets you there faster than you might expect.
Price advice:
Adult tickets are US$20, students are US$10 and children under 12 go free.
