Expert review of Golden Bay
A classic beach of golden sand with a gentle slope into clear blue water.
This is a broad beach of yellow sand - perfect for families, or indeed for anybody who likes a good beach. I certainly like it. There is lots of sand for sunbathing as well as the protected waters of the bay for swimming and watersports.
Expert tips:
It gets very crowded in summer, especially with language students and residents of the five-star Radisson hotel that dominates one side of the bay.
The snack bar at the side of the beach is not bad (and vastly cheaper than the eateries in the Radisson).
There can be a dangerous undertow after bad weather.
