This is one of Europe's most celebrated and glamorous leisure ports.
I go through phases of loving the unashamed glitziness of Puerto Banús. Sometimes I like putting on my biggest pair of sunglasses and mooching around the yachts worth tens of millions, browsing the designer boutiques where the clothes don’t have a price tag (if you have to ask, you can’t afford it), and watching the world strut by from a bar or restaurant full-to-bursting with well-groomed social butterflies. Other times, the ostentatious brashness of it all is a bit much. Either way, it must be experienced on a trip to Marbella.
Price advice:
It's free to walk around and do a spot of window shopping, but you'd best have a healthy relationship with your bank manager if you fancy picking up some treats from the boutiques and/or eating and drinking.
Expert tips:
Restaurants stay open until about midnight, or even 1am, in the summer, but close a couple of hours earlier in winter.
In the height of the summer there are lots of prostitutes near the piano bars and nightclubs on the second line. It can get a bit seedy so avoid it if that’s not your thing.
Park in the underground car park at Plaza Antonio Banderas or in the multi-storey attached to El Corte Ingles department store. But check the opening hours as they vary throughout the year.
