Best for Watersports - Expert review of Surfing
I am no surfer, but I do know that Lanzarote is one of the top surfing spots in Europe, indeed the world. Host to the European Championships every year, the island sees a constant stream of world-class surfers pretty much year round. Although the beaches in the south enjoy calm conditions, those in the north and north east of the island are ideal for surfers itching to catch a big wave. There are a number of surf schools at Famara, one of Lanzarote's most popular surfing beaches, but nearby La Santa tends to attract the real pros.
Surf School Lanzarote www.surfschoolanzarote.com, the only British Surfing Association Level 4 Approved surf school outside the UK, can offer instruction for all levels.
