Lanzarote's climate and landscape is a dream come true for a mountain biker.
Lanzarote's variety of terrain ranges from dramatic volcanic backdrops to pretty wine country and includes everything from quiet country trails to challenging hills and mountains. Lanzarote bikes, or several other companies, can provide you with maps and advice on the best places to go - which do vary somewhat depending on the season. The island is ideal for cycling year round, but you may want to time your visit to coincide with just one of the major cycling events that take place on the island, such as the Three Island Challenge, known locally as Las Tres Islas, as well as the Volcano Triathlon, not to mention the Ironman, one of the world's most challenging triathlons, which attracts keen cyclists from all over the world.
Price advice:
If you bring your own bike from home (most airlines allow this and only some charge a fee), the cost of mountain biking in Lanzarote is very reasonable, or even free. Prices for bike hire are competitive, and you can often get very good deals off season, particularly if you rent a bike for more than one day.

Wear plenty of sunscreen.
Bring all your biking clothing from home, as it is expensive to rent.

There are some great local bike rides in the resort areas or take a map and get off road.The tourist board now has bike routes on the island listed and marked.If you stay in Playa Blanca be sure to hire your bike from Roy at the Punta Limones Commercial Centre (next to the hairdressers).A great early morning ride is from the lighthouse (Pechiguera) in the western end of the resort along the promenade all the way to and past Marina Rubicon.
