Best for First-time visitors - Expert review of Fundación César Manrique
This was one of the first sights I ever visited on the island and the experience is still etched in my memory. It was the first realisation I had that Lanzarote certainly did not deserve its 'Lanzagrotty' tag. The one time home of local architect, César Manrique was beautifully designed by him to appear as if it was born of the volcanic surroundings, with rooms in the landscape's volcanic bubbles . That cool blue pools with jet black and bright white surrounds and exotic landscaping that became his trademark are both restful and inspirational. An art gallery contains works by the likes of Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró, as well as by Manrique himself.
8 euros, under 12s free.
