Well-run small museum with high-quality art and artefact exhibits.
This little Beyoğlu gem hosts an impressive variety of temporary and travelling exhibits, from Japanese anime to Picasso engravings to local photography. Its eclectic permanent collection – comprising displays of Anatolian weights and measures, ceramic tiles, and lovely Orientalist paintings depicting the Ottoman world is worth a look too.
Price advice:
Regular admission is 10 lira; students and seniors are half-price.

The same foundation that runs the Pera Museum also operates the free Istanbul Research Institute just up the street, which has fascinating small exhibits generally focused on history and architecture.
