Best for First-time visitors - Expert review of University of Glasgow
This is my favourite thing to do in Glasgow. Although it’s not a traditional tourist attraction, compared to the rest of the city’s sights, for most tourist’s it’s the spitting image of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts and it’s definitely worth a few hours. From the renovated churches on Garnethill to the unparalleled view of Glasgow, which tumbles down to the River Clyde from the rear of the main University building, it really is a joy to discover. Maybe it’s because I studied here for four long brain-numbing years but I always feel a huge wave of nostalgia every time I walk beneath its towering Gothic spires and through the front gates.
Free. Although the students may take issue with the coalition government's compulsory course fees.
