Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s dream design brought to life on Glasgow’s south side.
This is one of the coolest contemporary art venues in the city. Designed by the famous Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, but realised by contemporary artists from designs found in his portfolio, this building is one of the city’s premier cultural attractions. Suitable for students of design and art – rather than fleeting visitors – the Mackintosh Suite of rooms is a concerto of Nouveau Riche designs and flavours. One of my friends even chose this as the venue for his wedding.
Price advice:
Adults £4.50, concessions - £3, children under 10 free, family (2 adults + 2 children) £12, groups of 10 adults or more £4 per adult, school groups £2 per child.
Expert tips:
As the house for an Art Lover regularly holds private events throughout the year, its opening times do vary drastically – so it is suggested to check in advance to avoid disappointment.
Its regular hours are between 10am to 4pm but as it’s a popular venue for weddings and receptions as a rule of thumb the best time to visit is in the morning.
