Best for First-time visitors - Expert review of Manzana de la Discordia
The three masters of Modernisme battle it out for supremacy.
‘Manzana’ is Spanish both for block and apple, and the name puns on the Apple of Discord in Greek mythology but also refers to the three very different styles of the Modernista buildings dominating this block. Puig i Cadafalch’s Flemish-style, crenellated Casa Amatller stands in stark contrast to Domènech i Montaner’s frothy stuccoed Casa Lleó Morera, but the big draw is, of course Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, with its curious curves, marine tiling and balconies apparently carved from bones.
Expert tips:
You can visit the Gaudí-designed interior and roof terrace of the Casa Batlló, for a fairly hefty 17.50 euros.

For me visiting Casa Batlló was the highlight of my trip to Barcelona and was worth every penny. Would love to go back.
Casa Batlló looks best at night when it's illuminated - wish I was there now!
