Expert review of Konoba Toni
Inland from the coastal village of Postira, at the end of a small fertile valley, lies the peaceful village of Dol, made up of traditional Dalmatian stone cottages. Here, in a 300-year-old stone building with green wooden window shutters, I recommend you visit this friendly eatery, run by the Matulić family.
Everything on the menu comes from the island - pršut (prosciutto), sheep’s cheese, sausages, lamb, seafood, olives and organically-grown vegetables. The olive oil comes from the family olive grove and the prošek (sweet wine), rakija (a potent spirit) and delicious dried figs are also their own.
If they have roast lamb, go for that.
Guests sit out at wooden tables and benches on a vine-covered terrace, with stone steps lined with potted geraniums. For chilly days there’s also seating inside the stone-walled konoba, where large barrels of wine and whole pršut (prosciutto) are kept.
Welcoming and relaxed, everything is done at its own pace with no fuss.
Dol lies 2 km south of the coastal town of Postira, where you’ll find Hotel Lipa.
Two people can eat extremely well here for 350 kuna.
