Expert review of Blossom
Vegans have a limited number of options even in a culinary mecca such as New York City. Blossom is trying to change that. Husband and wife team Ronen and Pamela Seri garner praise for their creative organic vegan dishes. This is one of the best vegan restaurants in the city and one that anyone craving a non-meat menu should venture to at least once.
Ronen and Seri use locally sourced ingredients. They fully support small producers and it shows in the freshness of the food. The wine list is heavy on organic selections (try the Laurent Miquel Nord Sud Syrah). Many of the craft beers are organic or from small breweries around the country.
The food fools you into thinking it has meat, eggs and cheese. I especially like the tofu with pesto and sweet corn and the soy bacon cheeseburger. The black eyed pea cake may seem odd for dessert but you have to try it; it's damn good.
The space has a convivial atmosphere, where the people next to you like to strike up conversation. It's very warm and welcoming and not high maintenance at all.
Pretty efficient and always with a smile. I've never had a bad experience here.
This part of 9th Avenue is a lot quieter than the stretch in the Meatpacking District. It almost feels off the beaten track.
It's about $80 for two for dinner.
The restaurant has a branch on the Upper West Side as well as a "fast food" option just down the street in Chelsea.
