Expert review of Café de Paris
I cannot find fault with this restaurant’s French-inspired food or ambience. As this incredibly popular, boutique restaurant is quite expensive though, I usually only visit when I’m willing to splurge or I’m celebrating something special.
The owner, José García Cortés, is one of the best chefs in the industry, and now his son is in charge of the kitchen. Together, they’ve created a menu comprising mainly of French dishes which have been given an Andalusian twist. The stroganoff, made using local brandy and oxtail, plus the whisky foam and caviar, are among my favourites. Make sure you leave room for the champagne and citrus sorbet too.
This is definitely a foodies' place. Although the atmosphere can initially come across as quite pretentious, it is thankfully offset by the classic French-bistro-style décor made up of brown café chairs, simple white tablecloths, and beige and chocolate-coloured stripped walls.
The service is impeccable, if a little serious.
It's practically next door from the imposing Malagueta bullring.
Most main courses are between 20 and 28 euros each.
