Best for Families - Expert review of Houtsiplou
This laidback townhouse bistro is ideal for families: it serves simple tasty dishes at rustic wooden tables and the walls and cupboard doors are covered with doodles.
They serve a mixture of open sandwiches (tartines), salads, burgers and pastas, and there’s a separate children’s menu.
An informal home-from-home atmosphere thanks to the kitsch flower-power wallpaper, aging piano, books and other knick-knacks scattered along the windowsills.
Servers are relaxed and friendly.
Across the square from Comme Chez Soi, about a five-minute walk from Brussels-Midi train station. Anneessens is the nearest metro station.
Starters hover around the 8 euros mark and mains around 13 euros. Kid’s meals cost about 6 euros.
Tables upstairs have nice views over Place Rouppe.
