Expert review of Dressler
Located in central Berlin, this is a very decent address for French and international cuisine. Full of Art Deco touches and original artworks, the place is like a combination of a restaurant and gallery, which will obviously appeal to culture vulture and foodie types.
The prix fixe and a la carte menu includes a selection of fish, pasta and traditional German choices. Recommended dishes include pheasant breast with Riesling sauce, salmon trout with white wine sauce and braised endive, calves' livers with apples and three types of oysters. Racks of well-presented pastries might tempt you to have dessert with coffee. The Wine Bistro has a selection of 60 wines, with bottles available to purchase and take home.
Dressler has a pleasant, relaxed ambiance. The restaurant has a whiff of pre-war Berlin, decorated in Art-Deco style with leather banquettes, black-and-white tile floors, mirrors, 20th-century artworks and early German film memorabilia. In the summer the dining area is opened up to an outdoor seating area on the Unter den Linden.
You'll be served by charming young staff dressed in vests and aprons.
Situated on Unter den Linden in Mitte, between the Brandenburger Tor (Gate) and National Opera House.
Main courses are from 14-28 euros.
