Expert review of Fontecruz Sevilla Hotel
Luxurious comfort and top-notch service in beautifully-restored historic building.
Located in a stylishly renovated historic building on the edge of the Barrio Santa Cruz. I'm not totally convinced by the big fluffy pink light fixtures in the foyer, but there is a beautiful high wooden ceiling above the eclectically decorated patio, which seems to tie everything together. The paintings are originals by local artists, which you can purchase from the hotel.
Location:
Excellent location on a quiet mostly pedestrian street (it's only open to residents), close to the monuments, restaurants and bars, and just 10 minutes from the main shopping streets.
Bedrooms:
The 41 rooms are spacious, clean and quiet with bathtubs as well as showers; you can also request rooms with facilities for the disabled. All the rooms are tastefully done out in deep plums, contrasted with shades of grey and cream, and the suites are simply gorgeous. And all with free WiFi.

Public areas:
Fabulous rooftop terrace on three levels with views of the Cathedral and Giralda tower and a variety of seating: comfortable tables and chairs, small sofas with low tables in front and also day beds. The bar opens at 10 pm. from late spring to autumn.
There are two lounge areas on the main floor: one in the huge patio that is open and rather sumptuous, the other small and cosy with flatscreen TV on the wall. Meeting rooms can be booked in the business centre.
Eating and drinking:
Breakfast is extra, and a bit expensive, but it's quite a large buffet and it's available until 11.30am. Morrison's Café & Bar is located on the main floor and offers a fixed-price lunch at 20 euros.
Leisure facilities:
There's a small outdoor pool with a few sunbeds and tables, as well as a Turkish bath, which appears to only be working outside the hot summer months.
Service:
Excellent service. Not all the staff speak English but they make every effort to be helpful and are always courteous.

Breakfast costs 11 euros extra. Best value to be found from mid-June to September and when booking online.
