Wonderful boutique hotel in a pretty neighborhood.
I first stayed here a few years ago and still think the 100-room boutique property on a quiet street in Soho has a lot going for it: a wonderful location in the residential part of the neighborhood but close to its best shopping and restaurants, a guests-only rooftop lounge with fabulous views, and one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city, Kittichai.
Location:
One of my favorite streets in Soho, quiet and secluded but a quick walk to the neighborhood's best shopping and restaurants.
Bedrooms:
Well appointed by local designer Thomas O’ Brien, my caveat is that rooms can be the small considering the price (if you want a bathtub ask in advance as most rooms come with just a shower). I had the good fortune to stay in the Penthouse loft and if you can splurge I would highly recommend it. It's a duplex with its own fireplace, four poster bed and a lovely private roof deck with panoramic views. For regular rooms, the higher the floor the better. Other pluses are fun amenities like bathroom products from Kiehl’s and a mini bar stocked with goodies from gourmet emporium Dean & Deluca.

Sleek lobby area that makes a great pre-dinner cocktail spot.
Eating and drinking:
Kittchai is one of the best, if pricey, fine Thai restaurants in the city. I also think the rooftop bar with its views of downtown Manhattan is one of the hotel's main draws.
Leisure facilities:
A small gym.
Service:
The staff on call in the beginning seemed like they were chosen more for their looks than their professionalism but they seem to be making an effort to be more friendly and I would say the overall attitude is much improved.
