Best for Value for money - Expert review of Hotel Central
Fancy a charming hotel with a reasonable hotel bill at the end? If so, this is for you. The small, recently refurbished Hotel Central packs a punch with its location (next to Marbella’s old town) and its original, restored façade belies its modern interior and American-style levels of customer care. These, alongside the concierge and car rental service, plasma TVs and WiFi in the rooms, are just a few of the reasons why so many people, like me, have fallen in love with this boutique hotel.
The hotel’s name says it all. You can be strolling along the beach promenade within a five-minute walk of the lobby, and in half that time you could be ordering a café con leche in Orange Square, the historic quarter’s most popular area.
The hotel may be small but the bedrooms are surprisingly big (although not exactly giant), and have a rather trendy, black, white and burgundy Art Deco design. The bad news: there’s not much in the way of views, but what do you expect from a hotel tucked into a pretty side street?

With its polished floors, white walls, high ceilings and dark-wood furniture, stepping into the reception area and eating area feels more like entering a chic house than a hotel.
The hotel’s breakfast consists of locally-baked pastries, breads and conserves, as well as a selection of coffees and teas. Pleasing enough, but nothing to write home about.
There’s just no room for swanky pools and gyms – but you can betcha bottom dollar that if they did, they’d be amazing. The two large parks and the prom are popular for joggers and those wanting to do some al fresco fitness.
Incredibly friendly. English-speaking and knowledgeable.

Hip, informed holidaymakers and business travellers who shun the package holiday feel of large chain hotels.
I’ve yet to find a better deal in Marbella. I’d be willing to pay double the rates they’re charging.
