Expert review of Casa La Concha
A chic boutique b&b in the hills near Marbella, effortlessly oozing boho-luxury.
Set in an upmarket residential area, there are five ‘Med-chic’ decorated cottages set in the mature gardens of a beautifully-restored Andalusian farmhouse. I felt immediately at home here and, in fact, I spent a good deal of time wishing it was my real home. Casa La Concha, named after the mountain which dominates the area, has all the plusses of a five star hotel without the formality.
Location:
A quiet suburb populated by the well-heeled and wealthy overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Golden Mile. You’ll need to get cabs or drive five minutes or so to get into the centre of Marbella or Puerto Banús.
Bedrooms:
The cottage interiors combine flavours of 'shabby chic' and Provençal low-key luxury - think white, low-slung sofas and over-sized throws, colourful accent cushions and off-white country-style kitchens and you’ll get the idea. The rainforest showerheads and Bang and Olufsen TVs are typical of the top-notch fixtures and fittings.

Public areas:
The garden’s lawns, trees and flowers are a treat for all five senses. I don’t think I’ve ever been as relaxed as when I was lazing around the large pool on a four-poster sunbed. Pure heaven.
Eating and drinking:
The cottages have well-equipped kitchens, but being lazy, I'd grab a cab into Puerto Banús where you’ll find all the bars and restaurants you could ask for.
Leisure facilities:
There’s WiFi in some of the cottages, so I’d ask before booking. But I’d guess you’ll be spending most of your time by the pool.
Service:
The couple that run it are perfect hosts. You’ll want them as your best friends.
